Road Trip(s)

Hello and a Merry 2012.  How were your perspective New Years, I heard about the proxy party and all that excitement, I've got to get invited to one of those things, they sound like a blast.  Anyways, I spent my New Years on the highway, trying my hand at being the good guy for a bit.  It didn't exactly end well.  Perhaps I should start at the beginning.

It turns out that one of the many bloggers I regularly chat with, Robin, of Butterfly Boy, was in a bit of trouble and needed a ride.  Normally I would have let the responsibility fall to someone else, but he was relatively close and I had no other obligations I needed to fulfill for the next few days, so I decided to give him a lift.  I thought surely there was nothing wrong with helping out a friendly guy, I could learn a few things in advanced and trick all of you into thinking I was a decent person.

I woke up early the next morning and drove out to Memphis, to a school where Robin was waiting, I got there a little early and saw a a big tall guy leaning against a tree, half asleep.  Sure enough it was Robin, he was a little wary of me a first (probably just freaked out by my appearance) , but after he calmed down and had eaten a bit he was excessively grateful.  Seriously though, Robin, there is actually such a thing as too much gratitude, and you really don't have to pay me back for the trip at all.

Anyways, the trip itself was uneventful for the most part, we talked some, but nothing really substantial was said.  I wanted to get to California in a single trip so there really wasn't all that much regard for the speed limit.  We finally made it to Robin's apartment around four or five in the morning on New Year's Day, and by that point I was pretty sleep deprived, so I agreed to come in for a soda before going to find a hotel to stay for the rest of the day.  That's about the time things went bad.  I'll let Robin elaborate on it if he wants, but I'd rather not get to into it, the whole ordeal just gave me a migraine.  The short story is that his roommate, Jenna, didn't take a shining to my irresistible charisma, and she made a slight mistake as to where exactly my alliances were.  It was an understandable mistake, but one I've grown tired of people making, and as I said, I was sleep deprived.  I... Lost control for a brief moment, fortunately I recovered and left before any permeant damage was done.

After that I spent about a day recovering, and then roughly half a day in California, and then yesterday afternoon I headed back home I got back late this afternoon, and have since been catching up with everything going on in the community.  I have to hand it to the proxies, they sure know how to spend New Year's Eve.

And now for some exciting news: The Overseer has finally decided to open the doors to one of his miraculous facilities that seem to be capable of warding off The Product, as he calls him, and let me get a tour of the place.  I've been looking forward to this, and I'm hoping he'll submit to an interview while I'm there, so you can look forward to one or two posts about that when I return.

This is looking to be an exciting new year, and I can't wait to see what it brings.  Here's hoping at least two or three of you are still alive next year.

Wait... Memphis? You can actually make it from there to California in like a day? World is smaller than I thought... or cars are a lot faster than I thought...

Meh, anyways, definitely will look forward to your review of that place. I'd love to have all the information on sanctuaries like that and how they work that I can get.

  3. I heard there was gunplay involved, that's what I'd call a fun party.  Links will be forthcoming, just as soon as my computer decides it no longer hates me.

Cars travel a lot faster when I'm the one driving, that's for sure.  I didn't want to have to stop for the evening because, no offense to Robin, I'm not particularly keen on the idea of anyone from this community knowing exactly where I'm sleeping.  I have been looking forward to visiting an Eden facility for a while now, though.  It's a shame it happened so soon after my California trip, but I'm to excited about this to let a little travel-weariness postpone to event.

  7. Hmm. Free, dear, let's have a public conversation as well as our private one. Make it interesting for the other little followers, eh?

    Want to trade information?

  8. That depends, what exactly did you have in mind? This sounds like it has the potential to be very intresting.

  9. Hmm. Let's see, I suppose an informational version of "I'll show you mine if you show me yours." What do you want to know, and what are you willing to volunteer?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Oh that's a tricky one, isn't it. What information would I being willing to make public about myself, not much I haven't already shared, I'll admit that much. How about: When did it all begin? I'd by willing to share that.

  11. And I'm assuming you'll want the same information? Not how I woke up on this side of things, but the real beginning. How I met the organization, and the Fears?

    ReplyDelete
  12. That's the one. You don't need to share the information, just the date. Although the more you give about your beggining the more I'll share about mine. Fair warning though: mine isn't all that exciting.

  13. The date, eh? Oh.. I'd say about a year before, give or take a few months. They approached me after I started seeing Them. They wanted to know why They hadn't tried to kill me, why they were never interested in me. I could see them, without being targeted. I could tell if someone was a target of theirs.

This was... useful to them. I now know, it's part of what influenced the pocketwatch to have the affect on me that it did.

  14. February 3rd, 2011.  I'd felt the paranoia for maybe a few weeks before, but that was the day I first saw Him.  Just standing there, watching with no eyes, I blinked and he was gone.  That was the beginning, I was nothing interesting, just another victim, being fed chaos and fear.  This time you get to ask the question, but I reserve the right to not answer if it's not something I'm willing to share.

  15. Mhmm. What timezone do you TRUTHFULLY reside in?

  16. Trying to narrow down where I am, are you? Very well then, I'm at central time, two hours ahead of my blog. I guess I might as well change that time stamp now.

  17. I figured as much, doll. 12:19, correct?

    Your turn.

  18. Oh we share a time zone, how exciting. Let's see here, what's a good one I can answer, too...

Oh I have one: What color are your eyes?

  19. Don't assume.

They change, between several shades of blue and green. I would be lying if I said one or the other. (If I trusted the Slenderverse) could show you multiple pictures from the same day that, unedited, proved that.

    Hmm. Same question to you.

  20. The right one is a palish gray, the left is black. I always love seeing people's reactions the first time they see my eyes, it's even better if I'm wearing sunglasses for the first part of the conversation. And look at that, the timestamp is fixed, that or the hours are just flying by. Last question goes to you, I do have an Eden facility to visit in the morning after all.

  21. This, I would love to see. Hmm..

Why do you write, really? In your heart of hearts, what is your real motivation?

    ReplyDelete
  22. That's a tough one, I'm not fully sure I know. I wouldn't be superised if my well dressed friend had some stake in this, or some plan, but that's not my reason. I could say that's it was just to consolidate what I've learned, and to help gather more information, but that's not the full reason...

I guess that it's preperation. Because one day I'll have to choose, one day I'll be forced to pick a side. And when that day comes I'll either be dead or deadly within the hour, and I want to be ready for that.

  23. Can't choose for you, but do yourself a favor. For every hard decisions, flip a coin. Not because the sides matter. But because while it's in the air..

You learn what you're hoping for it to land on.

  24. That, my Tide, is an execleente idea, and I may utalize it when the time comes. But right now, I'm just having far too much fun being neutral, oh yes, yesterday was a good day.

Overseer, Aura, if either of you read this thank you so much for the tour and interviews, it was an absolutly enlightening experince.

Oh so much to do, so much to write, and so much to catch up on. I am most deifently in a good mood today. Here's hopeing it lasts, eh.

  25. I'm glad you enjoyed it, so did I. it was fun to meet someone new, even if just for a little while. I know Overseer enjoyed it too. He'll probably comment later. He's busy with work.

  26. To clear things up, the trip to California is not indeed meant to happen that short. Free just drives like a maniac.
